General Education Petition Request

An academic advisor will submit a general education attribute petition on behalf of a student if a course on the student's transcript could be articulated with a general education attribute.

REVIEW GENERAL EDUCATION RUBRICS

Review the rubrics that list the criteria to meet the attributes. 

 

CHECK ARTICULATION

Check to see if the course has been articulated by going to the Registrar’s Webpage and completing a transfer credit search.

COMPLETE THE GENERAL EDUCATION PETITION FORM

Complete a General Education Petition Form through ServiceNow.

The form will be completed through ServiceNow. 

  1. Complete the form in ServiceNow
  2. You can request several appeals in one process by clicking Add to the cart 
  3. When you've finished the appeals, click Submit now
  4. You will receive notice that your request has been submitted. You can follow the ‘stage of completion’.

The form will automatically be sent to the Provost’s Office.  It will either be approved or denied.  If approved, the academic advisor will be asked to either make an Exception in DegreeWorks (and the Registrar’s office will be notified of the exception) or the Registrar’s office will be asked to add the attribute to the course.
